On September 21st, 2018, the National Capital Region — Ottawa, Ontario and Gatineau, Quebec — experienced F4 and F3-level tornadoes. The Township of Dunrobin and the formerly tree-lined suburban enclave known as Arlington Woods were particularly hard hit. Many homes were obliterated or had their roofs sheered off. Trees were torn from the ground and shot like projectiles into homes and cars. Windows were blown out and tons of debris was everywhere. Power is still out for tens of thousands of citizens. Many traffic lights are dark, food has spoiled and modern life has generally ground to a halt.
